Hi! I’m Abhishek, an interdisciplinary and community-focused data scientist, educator, organizer, and artist.
My goal is to use my skills in data science and education to foster change for the public good!
I am currently an Assistant Professor of Data Science at the School of Business and Enterprise at Chatham University. I received my PhD in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh School of Computing & Information in 2024, and hold a Bachelor’s degree in electronics and telecommunication. As a researcher, I have received several fellowships and grants to assist in community science projects in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
My work aims to give people, especially underserved communities, the tools they need to address the injustices that affect them. In my pedagogy, I firmly believe that fostering data literacy is not merely a classroom objective but a vital skill for civic participation in today's world. My research is focused on creating platforms and networks where local resident groups can collect, make sense of, and disseminate environmental information to address social and environmental issues. My community organizing work serves the public good, whether advocating for public transit, air/water quality, or privacy.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, hiking, biking, making art and spending time with my dear friends.
